Guided Vision lands in Gemini Live

On 1 October Google put real-time camera help for blind and low-vision people on Android — built with Aira, not as a demo.

On 1 October 2026 Google launched Guided Vision in Gemini Live on compatible Android phones. Share the camera and you get spoken descriptions and cues to reframe, aimed at people who are blind or have low vision.

Google says it trained the feature with Aira on tens of thousands of hours of interpreted scenes, and that more than 1,000 trusted testers walked through daily routines. It is on Android 9 and up, where Gemini Live already works.

A camera that talks is still a guess about a scene. Useful if it helps you move. Dangerous if you treat it as a witness. Check what you can with your own hands and a named person.
