Claude Haiku 4.5: frontier speed, smaller bill

Anthropic released Claude Haiku 4.5 for everyone. It says the small model now reaches coding performance close to Claude Sonnet 4 from earlier in the year, at about one-third the cost and more than twice the speed. API list price is $1 / $5 per million input and output tokens.

Sonnet 4.5 stays the company’s frontier coding model. The pitch for Haiku is to run more of the cheap steps in parallel while a larger model plans.

A cheaper, faster model changes what you can check automatically. It does not change the need to verify facts, code, and anything that can bind or harm.
