On 22 September 2026 Apple said the new Mac mini (M6 or M5 Pro) and Mac Studio (M5 Max or M5 Ultra) were in stores. Mini with M6 starts at $899; Studio with M5 Ultra starts at $5,499. Apple claims up to 4× faster AI on the mini and 4.3× on the Studio, plus up to 512 GB unified memory on Ultra.
The machines are sold with macOS 27 and Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI. The Studio Ultra is aimed at running large models on the desk. Those speed numbers are Apple’s lab comparisons.
Local is cheaper than a rack only if the job fits in the box. Ask what model you can actually load, and who is accountable for the output.
